Equity release

Date published: 15th May 2024

Are you considering an equity release/lifetime mortgage?

We have submitted two equity release applications today for two very different reasons. One for home improvements for a client who has been desperate to improve her bathroom and landscape her garden but hasn’t been in a position to do so and one for a couple in their 70’s looking to travel and reduce their monthly outgoings so they can enjoy their retirement.

Whatever reason you have to consider this, it’s important to speak to a broker to ensure you are aware of all of your options and to ensure whatever decision you make is the right one for you!

A lifetime mortgage is a long-term commitment which could accumulate interest and is secured against your home. Equity release is not right for everyone and may reduce the value of your estate.

You may have to pay an early repayment charge to your existing lender if you remortgage.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
